Study abroad in China during summer 2019

If you are looking for a way to gain experience teaching English abroad, LING/WRIT4790 in Summer Term A in 2019 will be a wonderful opportunity.Dr. Jinrong Li will be offering LING/WRIT4790 Internship as a part of a study abroad program in China in summer term A. Participating students will take the course with Dr. Li online and at the same time be placed to teach elementary, middle, or high school students (depending on student interests) in Shenzhen, China.

The online component will help guide students’ field teaching, self-assessment, and reflection and therefore no prior applied linguistics or linguistics courses or teaching experiences are required.

Other components of the study abroad program include:

  • One history course (choose from HIST1112s, HIST/INTS 5532/5532G, and HIST 2110)
  • Cultural excursions (Shenzhen, Humen, Guangzhou, Shanghai, Hangzhou, Suzhou, Wuzhen, Xi’an, Hong Kong, Macau)
  • Language and cultural exchange through community-based activities
