In February 2019 on the Statesboro campus, the Vagina Monologues, the annual fundraiser for Georgia Southern University’s chapter of the National Organization of Women, raised $1,170 and donated the proceeds to the Teal House, a community based sexual assault response center that serves Bulloch and several surrounding counties.
Every Vagina Monologues performance also donates a portion of the proceeds to a global non-profit movement called V-Day to raise money for groups working to end violence against women and girls across the world. Pictured is Tyler Hicks, President of the National Organization for Women on Georgia Southern University’s campus, delivering the check to a representative from the Teal House. NOW is one of the university’s student organizations affiliated with the Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies Program (WGSS).
