WGST faculty member, Dr. April Schueths, wins Faculty Research Award!

Dr. April Schueths, an Associate Professor of Sociology and WGST affiliate and core faculty member, won the CLASS Award of Excellence in Teaching, Research, and Service.

Dr. Schueths’s research is centered on the intersection of race and gender with family relations and immigration policy, education, and more recently health. Her main line of research focuses on the lived experiences of mixed-status couples (i.e., partners with differing legal status, including an undocumented Latino/a partner and a U.S. native-born partner of any race or ethnicity) and their families.

She is particularly interested in understanding how mixed-status couples sustain their families under the enforcement based immigration policies and how these dynamics differ by geographical region and living
arrangement.
