About Dr. Fallin

Since the fall of 1991, Dr. Matt Fallin has served as the Percussion Instructor at Georgia Southern University.  He received the Doctor of Musical Arts degree in Percussion Performance from the University of Miami in Florida, having received the Master of Music degree from Louisiana Tech University and the Bachelor of Music degree from Georgia Southern College, both with an emphasis in music education.

Dr. Fallin has responsibility for all percussion instruction and activities at the University, including conducting the Georgia Southern Percussion Ensemble.  Dr. Fallin is a versatile solo and orchestral percussionist performing classical, jazz, and rock music.  He frequently performs with the Hilton Head Orchestra, Hilton Head Choral Society, Savannah Philharmonic Orchestra, and freelances with various ensembles in and around the region.  He regularly performs on drum set with the Georgia Southern Faculty Brass Quintet and has been a featured soloist with the Georgia Southern Symphony Orchestra, Symphonic Wind Ensemble, and various ensembles in the region.  Other performance opportunities include appearances in and around South Georgia playing drum set with several local groups including the Chris Mitchell Band and the Statesboro Blues Band.  In addition to his percussion responsibilities, Dr. Fallin served as the Director of Athletic Bands at Georgia Southern from 1991-2010.  He is a member of GMEA, PAS, Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia, and Tau Beta Sigma.

Dr. Fallin is endorsed by The Vic Firth stick and mallet company, as well as the Jupiter/Mapex/Majestic instrument company.
