About Mr. Lyons

Oboist Brian Lyons holds degrees from The University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music (BM), University of Hartford Hartt School of Music (MM), and is currently writing his dissertation as a doctoral candidate at The University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music. He has performed in the Opera Maya Festival in the Riviera Maya, Mexico, the Stellenbosch International Chamber Music Festival in Stellenbosch, South Africa, and was a recitalist, adjudicator, and clinician at the 2018 Australasian Double Reed Society National Conference in Melbourne, Australia. 

Brian is a past recipient of the Marcel Dandois Prize in Oboe (CCM), and winner of the CCM Concerto Competition, the Emerson String Quartet Chamber Music Competition (Hartt School), and in 2019 the Presser Foundation Graduate Music Award for his project 3-D Printed Baroque Oboe After Jakob Denner.

Currently, in his sixth season as Principal Oboe of the Augusta Symphony, Brian is in leave of absence to attend the Royal Conservatory of The Hague, Netherlands to earn the Artist Certificate Music in Baroque oboe.
