About Dr. Mathews
Dr. Benjamin Mathews is the Gretsch Distinguished Scholar in Guitar/Music Industry at Georgia Southern University. He is a guitarist, songwriter, and producer from Los Angeles with experience performing across the nation and recording for many studio, television, and film projects. He has been an on-camera instructor, in-studio quality control representative, and backing track producer for the groundbreaking Fender Play online learning platform. Ben has also taught music classes at University of Southern California, Indiana University, Utah State University, Brigham Young University – Idaho, and College of Southern Idaho.
Ben holds a DMA in Studio Guitar Performance from University of Southern California, with emphases in Music Teaching and Learning, Pop Songwriting, and Music Technology. He also earned a Master of Music in Jazz Studies degree from Indiana University and a Bachelor of Arts in Music from Brigham Young University – Idaho.
