Student Organizations

Sigma Tau Delta is the International English Honor Society; its aim is to foster all aspects of English as a discipline. Phi Sigma, the Georgia Southern chapter, is an active organization that promotes fellowship among English majors and service to the community. We hold bi-weekly meetings and host field trips, parties, and readings; we also engage in community service projects. Please contact one of the two faculty mentors if you’d like to learn more:

Dr. Carol Andrews (Armstrong Campus)
Dr. Julia Griffin (Statesboro Campus)
Dr. Mary Villeponteaux (Statesboro Campus)

EELS, the Eagle Elite Literary Society, is a Georgia Southern University club for students interested in literature, regardless of their major.  At present, we need officers, so if you are interested in helping to organize activities such as reading parties, a Scrabble tournament, or if you have ideas of more fun things to do with a group of students who love literature, please contact faculty mentor Dr. Brad Edwards at
