He has taught a wide range of courses at all levels and in all modalities, from elementary to literature, and has consistently received high ratings for his focus on proficiency. His publications and presentations center on the teaching of German language and culture. The most notable of his service activities is perhaps his work as the department’s coordinator for its assessment activities for 8 years, helping to make sure that the department kept its focus on standards- and expectations-based student success. Participation in numerous development activities ranging from conferences to webinars attest to his desire to keep improving his craft. Dr Kurz has been active in the profession in many roles, especially as officer in different capacities in the American Association of Teachers of German (AATG), Georgia Chapter, as well as the Foreign Language Association of Georgia (FLAG), as whose president he currently serves. Over the years, he has been honored for his efforts to support language teachers and teaching as recipient of multiple external awards. In recognition of his numerous distinguished contributions, Dr. Kurz deserves the title Associate Professor Emeritus of German.
