Japanese student participates in Speech Contest
Xinying Lin, student of Dr. Noriko Mori Kolbe, participated at the 24th Annual Japanese Speech Contest held on March 7, 2015 at Kennesaw State University. This event was co-organized by the Georgia Association of Teachers of Japanese, the Japanese Chamber of Commerce of Georgia, the Japan-America Society of Georgia, and the Consulate General of Japan in Atlanta. The Japanese Speech Contest provides students the opportunity to demonstrate their understanding of the Japanese language by reciting an original essay from memory. Xinying’s speech title was “Dream”. Xinying is currently taking an intermediate Japanese language course at the College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences. Xinying said, “The Japanese speech contest really helped me to see where I am in the Japanese language skill. It gave me motivation to study Japanese harder. Also, memorizing a speech and perform it in front of many people also helped me to enhance my language skills.” Xinying will be attending a university in Japan starting this fall as an exchange student.
