Georgia Southern Students and Faculty Present their Work at the Georgia Association of Historians Conference

The Georgia Southern Department of History was well represented at the 2023 meeting of the Georgia Association of Historians in Valdosta, GA. Professor Lisa Denmark, MA alumni Mark O’Dell and Jeff Ofgang, presented papers as part of a panel entitled “Interdiction, Internment, and Injustice: Two Centuries of Savannah’s History.” Current MA student Ted Paden presented a paper titled “Black Sheep and Among Black Knights,” and his fellow graduate student Jaret Carpenter presented “Recollections of a National Monument: Fort Pulaski and the Lost Cause.”

Undergraduate student Jahnyiah Davis presented a poster entitled “Poised, Blunt, and Determined: Black Women in the Medical Profession,” and Syd Rigdon presented “Digesting the Donners: Public’s Consumption of American History through Decades of Media.” Congratulations to our faculty and students for their hard work!
