TALK: Mike Bess “Routes of Compromise: The Mexican Highway System”

This Wednesday, December 4, at noon, Michael Bess will be giving a talk about his dissertation work, “Routes of Compromise: Road Building and Motor Transportation in Modern Mexico, 1920-1952.” Mike is a former Georgia Southern MA student who has recently finished his PhD at the University of Texas, El Paso. His groundbreaking work on the emergence of the modern highway system in Mexico has earned him the John Scholes Transport History Prize. He will offer a preview of new material being presented at this year’s American Historical Association conference.

The talk is sponsored by the history department and will be held in the Forest Drive Building, 1231. Georgia Southern University.
