About Dr. Rangel
Dr. Dolores Rangel is a native of Monterrey, Mexico. She studied Licenciada en Letras Españolas (BA in Spanish Letters) in the Tec de Monterrey. She received her MA in Spanish from New Mexico State University and her Ph.D. in Latin American Literature with a Hispanic Linguistic minor from the University of Buffalo at New York.
Dr. Rangel taught literature and language courses for several years in the Tec de Monterrey and has been Visiting Professor in Queen’s University in Canada and in the University of Texas at Brownsville. In Fall 2005 she joined the Department of Foreign Languages at Georgia Southern University. She teaches all levels of Spanish at undergraduate and graduate level. She has participated in the studies abroad programs in Costa Rica and Madrid.
Dr. Rangel’s areas of interest are Mexican Narrative, Contemporary Latin American Narrative, and Colonial Literature. She has published several articles in national and international peer review journals and she recently published the book Artemio de Valle-Arizpe y su visión del México colonial, under Juan de la Cuesta Hispanic Monographs. She has presented papers at international and national conferences. Right now she is the chair of the Spanish section in the Department of Foreign Languages.
