Getting Ready for the English Language Program Summer 2017 Classes

We’re very exited to be preparing for our Summer Session of the English Language Program (ELP) here at Georgia Southern.  Although there is a lot of work to do to get ready, we are all thrilled to be preparing for our wonderful new students who will be starting classes on the 12th of June.  The Summer Session is 8 weeks packed full of active English language learning. The classes are designed to help our students improve their English skills to enable them to qualify for admission to Georgia Southern or any US university.

While we’re talking about our classes, we would like to introduce the English Language team.  Amy Perry is a great ELP instructor with many years’ experience.  Micki Kaleta and Megan Jackson are here to instruct and help to make your stay more enjoyable.  Liz Walker is not pictured here because she is writing this post and took all the pictures.  You’ll get to meet her and everyone else when you arrive for the first day of classes.

English Language Program goodie bagThe whole team has been busy!  One of the things we think is wonderful is the Georgia Southern backpack we’ve made up for each of our students.  It is filled with items to help with your English language learning, and the transition to living in Statesboro. It includes an ELP binder, a notebook, and a bag full of goodies including:

  • What to do in Statesboro
  • Area restaurants
  • Georgia Travel Guide,
  • Maps of the area
  • And much more

We can’t wait to meet you and give you this gift we have put together.

Our instructors have  prepared many active learning experiences and planned a curriculum of whole language practice for our students in all four skills areas:

  • Reading
  • Writing
  • Listening
  • Speaking

With this curriculum our students will receive the best possible English as a second language education.

We look forward to seeing all of our students in a few short weeks!
