The Betty Foy Sanders Department of Art (BFSDoArt) offers diverse gallery programming for both the Georgia Southern University community and the surrounding region. Within the Center for Art & Theatre (CAT), visitors will find four galleries that feature the artwork of professional artists, visiting artists, students, and two permanent collections – Betty Foy Sanders Georgia Artists Collection and Smith Callaway Banks Southern Folk Art Collection.
The Contemporary and University Galleries present contemporary artworks by professional artists working in a range of media, as well as student exhibitions. The Betty Foy Sanders Georgia Artists Collection is permanently displayed on the second floor of the CAT within the Georgia Artists Gallery. Exhibitions featuring selections from the Smith Callaway Banks Southern Folk Art Collection is displayed in a rotating gallery which is also located on the second floor of the CAT.
BFSDoArt offers annual juried exhibitions that are invaluable to students’ experience and professional practice. Throughout the year, BFSDoArt is approached by various campus and community entities to exhibit student artwork. When these opportunities arise, information related to the project will be posted for student review and/or submission.
