Submissions

The Betty Foy Sanders Department of Art (BFSDoArt) offers diverse gallery programming for both the Georgia Southern University community and the surrounding region. Within the Center for Art & Theatre (CAT), visitors will find four galleries that feature the artwork of professional artists, visiting artists, students, and two permanent collections – Betty Foy Sanders Georgia Artists Collection and Smith Callaway Banks Southern Folk Art Collection.

The Contemporary and University Galleries present contemporary artworks by professional artists working in a range of media, as well as student exhibitions. The Betty Foy Sanders Georgia Artists Collection is permanently displayed on the second floor of the CAT within the Georgia Artists Gallery. Exhibitions featuring selections from the Smith Callaway Banks Southern Folk Art Collection is displayed in a rotating gallery which is also located on the second floor of the CAT.

Student Submissions

BFSDoArt offers annual juried exhibitions that are invaluable to students’ experience and professional practice. Throughout the year, BFSDoArt is approached by various campus and community entities to exhibit student artwork. When these opportunities arise, information related to the project will be posted for student review and/or submission.

Alumni Submissions

The Betty Foy Sanders Department of Art invites submissions for Continuum, the biennial juried alumni exhibition. Continuum will be held August 10–September 14, 2022, at the Center for Art and Theatre art galleries on the Georgia Southern University Statesboro Campus. Submissions of work in any medium are welcome from BFSDoArt studio art or design alumni from both the Statesboro and Armstrong campuses as well as Armstrong art alumni. The deadline for entries is 11:59 p.m. on July 1. Notifications will be sent out by email on July 8.

Please note there is a limit of three submissions per person. Selected artwork must be delivered during the week of July 25–29, either in person or via shipper. Artwork delivery and pickup is the responsibility of the artist, and all works sent via a shipper must be packaged for easy return, and accompanied by a paid, self-addressed label. Additional information regarding artwork shipping and/or in-person drop-off will be included with artwork selection notifications.

Professional Submissions

Betty Foy Sanders Department of Art Submission Guidelines: Exhibitions at the Betty Foy Sanders Department of Art tend to focus on the work of nationally or internationally renowned artists. If you would like to submit artwork for consideration in future exhibitions please send the following:

  • Resume
  • Artist Statement or Proposal
  • CD (jpeg images)
  • Image list (include title, dimensions, and media)
