About the Galleries

The Betty Foy Sanders Department of Art offers diverse gallery programming for the Georgia Southern University community and the surrounding region. The Center for Art & Theatre (CAT) showcases two permanent collections – The Betty Foy Sanders Georgia Artists Collection and Smith Callaway Banks Southern Folk Art Collection. It also features multiple venues to view contemporary and traditional artwork created by students and professional artists.

Each year the Contemporary Gallery and University Gallery present a number of solo and group exhibitions featuring artwork by professional artists working in a wide range of media, from traditional oil paintings to multimedia installations.

During the spring semester, the CAT hosts annual student exhibitions that highlight outstanding work created by Betty Foy Sanders Department of Art undergraduate students: Form & Content: Annual Foundations Exhibition, Undergraduate Juried Exhibition, BFA Graphic Design Exhibition, and BFA Senior Exhibition.
