‘Rena Leinberger: Zero Panorama’
Exhibition Uses Installations to Explore Landscape, Artifice, Spectacle

Georgia Southern University’s Betty Foy Sanders Department of Art presents Rena Leinberger: Zero Panorama from August 19 through September 27 in the Contemporary Gallery at the University’s Center for Art & Theatre.
The exhibition includes an artist lecture Monday, September 16, at 5 p.m. in the University’s Visual Arts Building, Room 2071, followed immediately by an artist reception in the gallery. The event is free, and the public is welcome.
Zero Panorama is a survey of mixed-media installations, photographs and videos by Leinberger. Working primarily with web-based images, she constructs artworks that utilize subtle shifts in material as a vehicle for exploring notions of landscape, artifice and spectacle.
“It is a great privilege to bring the work of internationally renowned artist Rena Leinberger to Georgia Southern and the Statesboro community,” said Marc Mitchell, gallery director for the Betty Foy Sanders Department of Art. “While many of the images are challenging, Leinberger is concerned with issues of the digital age. Her photos, videos and sculptural installations tackle the way that we gather and process information, whether via the Internet or the natural landscape.”
Leinberger’s work has been shown at institutions such as the Museum of Contemporary Art in Chicago, Newhouse Center for Contemporary Art in New York, Massachusetts Museum of Contemporary Art, Threewalls in Chicago, Queens Museum of Art in New York, STOREFRONT in New York, Smack Mellon in New York, Mariane Boesky Gallery in New York, Jack Shainman Gallery in New York and many others. She has received several awards, including the Swing Space Residency at the Lower Manhattan Culture Council, Catwalk Institute Residency in New York; AIM at the Bronx Museum and the International Studio & Curatorial Program in NewYork.
