The Neutral Ground film screening Nov. 11

The Neutral Ground film screening Thursday, Nov. 11

Join DOC Savannah and the Communication Arts Department at the Statesboro campus for a free screening and panel discussion of the documentary The Neutral Ground Thursday, Nov. 11, at 7 p.m. in Sanford Hall Room 1002.

After the screening join Kristopher Monroe, Chair of the Savannah-Chatham Historic Site & Monument Commission and Patt Gunn, Master Gullah Geechee Truth-Teller for a panel discussion.

“The Neutral Ground” documents New Orleans’ fight over monuments and America’s troubled romance with the Lost Cause. In 2015, director CJ Hunt was filming the New Orleans City Council’s vote to remove four confederate monuments. But when that removal is halted by lawsuits and death threats, CJ sets out to understand why a losing army from 1865 still holds so much power in America.

This event is a collaboration with POV the award-winning independent non-fiction film series on PBS www.pbs.org/pov and with the support of Southern Documentary Fund
