Go Back and Fetch It! African Folktales Traditions, Meanings, and Relevance

In the Spirit of the Sankofa Bird, the Center for Africana Studies is “going back and fetching” Black History by capturing the vivid and colorful African Folktales as told by Master African StoryTeller, Lillian Grant Baptiste. These stories uplift, empower, and ultimately transform her audiences. Ms. Baptiste skillfully gathers and retells stories from diverse cultures, but has a particular fondness and love for folktales from the Gullah tradition.
