ForLangs_IconAngela Pinilla-Herrera, Ph.D., and Ana Hernandez, M.Ed., had their research project approved by Georgia Southern University’s Institutional Review Board.

Their sociolinguistic study aims to describe the profiles of Hispanic-origin adults living in rural and semi-rural areas of South Georgia. They will examine Spanish and English language practices, the factors that influence them, the role of social networks in Spanish maintenance, linguistic attitudes, issues of identity in relation to language use, and perceptions of various topics concerning the Latino community in the United States.
