Painting students exhibit work at Business Innovation Group in Downtown Statesboro

The Betty Foy Sanders Department of Art and Business Innovation Group presents an exhibition of student paintings “New Works from BFSDoArt” from Nov. 28, 2021, to Feb. 24, 2022, with a reception on Dec. 3 during the Holiday Celebration downtown Statesboro.
Fourteen art students have been tackling themes in their painting studios such as the emotional character of color, comic book illustrations, mental health, and geometric abstraction. The work on display will be a sampling of the bodies of work that they have created during this semester and include a variety of two-dimensional media—oil on canvas, acrylic on panel, watercolor on paper, and mixed media.
“I’m excited about the show because it is the first public showing of my artwork, first time actually installing a piece I’ve made, and the first time correctly wiring and prepping pieces,” said Charity Stanton, a senior art major from Lithonia, GA. “All these things make me feel like I’m investing into my art, and make it feel more important. Seeing my work at our upcoming exhibition is going to give me a sense of accomplishment and just make me proud overall.”
The public is invited to join the students for a small reception celebrating their work at the Business Innovation Group at 58 Main Street during the Christmas Holiday Celebration on Friday, Dec. 3 from 5:30-7 p.m.
Students with work featured in the show are Jackson Branton, Terrie Daniel, Rachael Dickson, Erin Dixon, Gabriel Drabek, Vanessa Franquez, Spencer Horton, Quinderrious Humphrey, Kaitlyn Roberts, Tyler Lane Ruarks, Charity Stanton, Christian Strickland, Summer Tilley, and Michael Weatherspoon.
Please note, the University’s administrative offices, including BIG, are closed from Dec. 25-Jan. 3.
