Undergraduate Juried Exhibition
The Betty Foy Sanders Department of Art (BFSDoArt) at Georgia Southern University is pleased to present the 2011 Undergraduate Juried Exhibition, on view from April 15 – May 3, 2011. This exhibit showcases the outstanding work being produced by students enrolled at the BFSDoArt. An artists’ reception and awards presentation will occur on Friday, April 29th from 5-7pm.
The artworks in the exhibition represent the various disciplines taught within the BFSDoArt including: sculpture, ceramics, jewelry, painting, drawing, printmaking, photography, and mixed media. The jurors for this exhibition are Dorothy Eckmann, Director of Education at the Gertrude Herbert Institute of Art, and Rocío Maldonado, Internationally acclaimed artist whose work has been exhibited and collected by numerous museums.
BFSDoArt is committed to offering superb undergraduate programs that prepare students to become professional artists, designers, art educators, and art historians. Recognizing its role in training the next generation of artists and designers, students enrolled at BFSDoArt are encouraged to think independently and develop their own artistic voice. “We look forward to reviewing the artwork submitted for the annual student juried exhibition,” said jurors Dorothy Eckmann and Rocío Maldonado, “Each piece will be considered individually. Special consideration in the selection process will be given to artworks that tells us something about the artists as well as relating to the viewer.”

Johnson, Jacob R. King, Brittany Linares, Sarah Miller, Mandy Moersch, Blair Moore, Ashley Murphy, Jason Newton, Kenny Olowoyo, Adam Pace, Kristen Perez, Anna Kelley Polatty, Elizabeth Nicole Ramsey, Jennifer M. Stuart, Meryl E. Sutton, and Jennifer Youmans.
On Friday, April 29th, 2011, awards will be presented to the following students:
Best in Show – Iricel Ayala, The Day in the Life of the Wandering Tutu
Best 2-D Artwork- Michelle Cruz, Abstract View of a Woman
Best 3-D Artwork – Hallveig Kristin Eiriksdottir, The Hedgehog’s Nest
Juror’s Choice – Adam Pace, Save Me ;Lindsay Day, Shattered Chair;and Anna Kelley Polatty, Guilt
