Savannah Wind Symphony presents 41st annual spring concert on Armstrong Campus

The Savannah Wind Symphony will hold its annual spring concert on the Georgia Southern Armstrong Campus in Savannah on Tuesday, March 5. The 41st spring concert will feature works by Johann Sebastian Bach, Kenneth Hesketh, Julie Giroux and Rossano Galante.

“We will open the concert with a very demanding transcription of a Bach organ composition ‘Fantasia and Fugue in C Minor,’ by the English composer Edward Elgar of Pomp and Circumstance fame,” Mark Johnson, Savannah Winds director said.

Johnson also said the concert will include a performance of “Irish Rhapsody” by Clare Grundman that will be conducted by retired Army Band conductor Larry Wyatt.

The Savannah Wind Symphony is comprised of musicians from the greater Savannah area and exists to enhance the cultural climate and appreciation of music in the Coastal Empire. They provide a nurturing musical environment by performing public concerts at a high artistic level, and they identify and support scholarship recipients for advanced musical training at the Armstrong Campus.
