Mecca Williams-Johnson

Biography

Meca Williams-Johnson holds a Doctor of Philosophy in Educational Psychology and teaches research methods in the College of Education. Dr. Williams-Johnson completes research on exploring emotions and its impact on teaching and learning. Additionally, Dr. Williams-Johnson investigates African American Homeschooling, efficacy beliefs in teaching, racial identity development and rural education opportunities.

    • This course provides a broad exploration of the experiences of people of African descent in the United States, relevant theoretical perspectives, empirical research by black scholars and fiction literature.  In this course students will examine critical issues related to race, ethnicity, education, Black families, and other psycho-social factors embedded in both contemporary and historical contexts. Topics are, at times, controversial and sensitive.
